If not now, when?



RecruiterEarth Blogger, Mike Timkem published a thought provoking blog: ENOUGH DYSFUNCTION AND PROCRASTINATION, LETS START CREATING JOBS!

And it really got me questioning, in the matter of job creation, who cares? No seriously WHO CARES?

Wellness exists where the vast majority are gainfully employed, able to make ends meet, and participating in the local and global economy.. but really aren't we too busy to really focus on the solution? It's really much more convenient to stop at the headlines news believing the only role is Congress to make jobs, Recruiters to make placements, Jobseekers to find the hidden jobs market, or Business Owners to hire more people.. if its outside US, we dont have to own the problem OR the opportunity.

Would we be more interested if instead of thinking of JOBS CREATION we considered the positive affects ADDING jobs could have to REDUCE CRIME , IMPROVE COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE, IMPROVE ECONOMIC WELLNESS?


If you are in the 57% who feel the stimulus is NOT working, is the answer, everyone moving to Minnesota where the Federal stimulus is steadily working in creating some 12K jobs in the last quarter? Now Minnesotas results are COOL, but soo is the climate!! SO is there more that can and should be done? I think @frannyo has the right idea to start to move people.. and you can see some serious community support lining up behind the idea that social networking HAS created new and untapped possibilities for business, for jobs creation and collaboration.. now what are we going to do with it.

IF you are a JOB SEEKER: you are so busy trying to claim yours and manage the bad news, that you cant care about more jobs, just YOUR job.

IF you are a SMALL BUSINESS OWNER: you are so busy trying to make revenues, deliver services and manage the day to day operations that you cant care more about jobs creation except in the context it directly applies to an inhibits YOUR business.

IF you are a MUNICIPALITY or GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE: where not all governance exists in responding to really solving the problem of joblessness, safety - an issue that affects economy, healthcare, trade, business, and every area of community well
being.. you realy care about jobs creation in the context in which it
stops the "bleeding" but does not heal the wound.

EVERYONE knows a jobseeker who is unemployed, a business owner struggling to make revenues and balancing hiring needs.. You might not know President Barack Obama... SOME might know local or federal government representatives trying to solve the problem. If you are working, is this NOT your problem yet? IF you are congress, jobseeker, gainfully employed, a business owner, or government representative and are really busy, shouldnt this issue of jobs creation still matter.. and solutions be explored, shared, and delivered? Fingerpointing might stop when we agree to look at the problem from the venue of its easier resolution.

• WHAT WILL DO THE MOST TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?


• WHAT CAN INDIVIDUALS DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?


• WHAT CAN SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?


• WHAT SHOULD INDUSTRIES AND CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?


• WHAT SHOULD GOVERNMENT DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
  
  

To quote lyrics from a great Beatles song, in the notion of JOBS CREATION.. "COME TOGETHER, right now, over me!" There is much we could do.. The value statement would be there if we approach it differently.. but is it worth while?
